In the year of twenty-double-two, there were a great deal of artists who doubled up in the studio. Partnerships on tunes– and, in one case, a whole album– provided two times the star power on the radio, charts and streaming services this year, specifically where hip-hop, pop and Latin music were worried.
In many cases, collabs in 2022 saw 2 titans of the exact same category collaborating together. There was Bad Bunny with Rauw Alejandro, Drake with Jack Harlow. There was Rauw Alejandro, once again, with Shakira, and Drake, once again, with 21 Savage. And after that there was pop royalty of various years unifying for one impressive remix. (Props to Elton John and Britney Spears.)
In other cases, a few of the year’s noteworthy collabs included 2 artists from various designs coming together for one incredible track. Dua Lipa brought her dance-pop style to Megan Thee Stallion’s rap expertise on the latter’s “Sweetest Pie” from August album Traumazine, and Charlie Puth had among K-pop’s greatest stars, BTS’ Jung Kook, join him on his single “Left and Right.”
” With whatever that it requires to make hits, to be able to share those minutes with other artists is simply stunning,” Future, among this year’s greatest serial partners, formerly informed Signboard about his tasks with artists such as Drake, Gunna and Young Goon. “Simply having the ability to arrive in the studio, gel with other artists well and have the ability to develop tunes is unique.”
